Catching Up on Fort Files
Derrick Gingery's Fort Files column* in FW Business Weekly is quickly becoming a favorite of Fort Wayne Media Notes. We noticed an item in last week's edition about INK and the Fort Wayne READER, which was prompted by a FWMN post about the same story appearing in both papers.
Ink, a weekly paper aimed at the African-American community, and the Fort Wayne Reader, an arts and entertainment publication, are working together. Staff at Diversity Media Group, which publishes Ink, do the design and layout of both publications, while staff at the Reader edit the content, said Vince Robinson, publisher of Ink.*CORRECTION: The Fort Files column is not Derrick Gingery's. Though he often contributes items and his byline once appeared above it (when he happened to write it all one particular week), referring to it as "his column" is incorrect. We regret the error and thank one of our readers for pointing it out.
Both publications rely on freelancers for much of their content and Robinson said sometimes stories will appear in both. But he said the sharing agreement is not a precursor to any other changes.
“We have very distinct audiences,” Robinson said. “It’s a perfect partnership because we’re not competitors to begin with.”
