Another Lakeside resident strikes back:
Lakeside anchors great areaThis is ostensibly in response to this earlier letter to the editor.
I am saddened by the recent negative letters to the editor regarding the Lakeside neighborhood. Letters like these do more harm to the neighborhood’s reputation than any negative acts that may be occurring.
This is a fabulous neighborhood that people choose to live in, even though they may have the means to live elsewhere. The new path at Lakeside Park is terrific. On a recent weekend, I visited the park and was awed by the number and variety of people who were there enjoying all of the amenities.
We have wonderful sidewalks and shady trees. People actually “neighbor” with each other from their front porches. The nearby bus line makes it possible for people to get anywhere, including young people unable to drive. Those of us with cars can get about anywhere in town within 10 minutes. Great schools, established churches, shopping and restaurants are within walking distance. Parkview Hospital and physicians anchor the neighborhood.
I have lived here for 17 years and intend to stay for at least another 17. Don’t be scared away by unhappy hearsay; this is a great place to live.
