Notes from the Crazies

A letter to the editor of the JG:
Police should abide by traffic laws, too

According to the state of Indiana’s Web site, one of the goals of the “Click It or Ticket” campaign is to “send the message to motorists that if they do not comply with Indiana’s safety belt and child restraint laws, they will receive a ticket.” Perhaps Hoosier motorists would be more inclined to obey our traffic laws if we didn’t see police cars speeding past us every day without lights or sirens. Instead of harassing otherwise law-abiding citizens with these Gestapo-like traffic checkpoints, perhaps law enforcement’s time, energy and money would be better spent catching up on the backlog of hundreds of unserved criminal arrest warrants.

MICHAEL KIPFER
Fort Wayne
Sounds like Michael got caught without a seatbelt on at a "Gestapo-like" checkpoint. Give us a break -- "I see police cars speeding so why should I follow any laws?" Sound reasoning...if you're a five year-old.
