I don't really care about how many people went to this year's DirtyFest (somehow, I was able to resist its spell), but director Kathleen Alter predicts that their numbers will be down due to inclement weather.
Festival director Kathleen Alter said attendance was up during the first half of the weeklong festival and that vendors were reporting high sales. But that all changed when rain began causing attendance to drop.Of course, as Brandon Morely of the JG mentions, lower attendance might also have something to do with the fact that people were getting shot at the midway.
Police responded to a report of a shooting near the Memorial Coliseum Midway about 11:30 p.m. on July 9 and found two men wounded in the area. One man was shot in the chest as he got into a car while the second was shot in the leg while crossing Parnell Avenue. Police have made no arrests in the case.
