Right Here in River City

TV writers in Los Angeles read the News-Sentinel and Journal Gazette?
[Upcoming CBS series "Close to Home" creator Jim] Leonard and his writers -- some with Indiana connections, including Leo Geter, who won a 2002 Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival -- are getting plenty of ideas from the Midwest.

"Every day, we look at The Star online. And we look at the Evansville paper, the Louisville Courier-Journal, Bloomington's paper and Fort Wayne's papers," Leonard said.

Leonard was born in Fort Wayne (he graduated from New Haven High School) and his brother Jay owns Preferred Auto. I bet a local features writer would get a nice column out of talking to Jim...

UPDATE: "Close to Home" is being co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, whose production company is responsible for CBS hits like "Cold Case" and CSI (Las Vegas, Miami, New York, etc.). That means "Close to Home" has a good chance of not being cancelled after three episodes, which happened to the last show Leonard worked on, FOX's "Skin."
