You Wonder, I Ask, They Answer

After I posted WOWO's new schedule, several FWMN readers lamented the loss of its noon news magazine.

I asked the station's operations manager, Jon Zimney, why WOWO decided to stop producing the program. Here's what he had to say:
The simple reason is the die-hard popularity of the Rush Limbaugh show, listener demand to hear the program live, and, the fact that we now compete on-line, with several other radio stations across the nation that stream his program live, (including Rush's own website.)

The new technology gives listeners more options in tuning him in early, and, with the Eastern/Central time zone debate now ended, as well as the advent of Daylight Saving time, it's pretty much a no-brainer. Being able to present the nation's #1 talkradio host, live, ((effective 10/31/05) finally puts us on the same level as Rush's affiliates in his top markets.

As far as the service elements of the noon news, (news, weather, farm, Paul Harvey) those are still there.

Paul Harvey at 11:45
Local news & Weather at 12:00 and 12:30
Farm at 12:50

That's the basic answer in regard to the Noon hour. As far as the whole time zone issue, the way it's turned out means nothing but good news for our entire broadcast schedule. More LIVE programming, and an earlier start time for Sean Hannity at night!

Most of the response we've received here today has been very positive...(And I'm not just saying that. It really has been!)
